SB IPB University Strengthens Research Competencies through VOSviewer and Publish or Perish Mentoring Class

Sekolah Bisnis IPB University once again held a Mentoring Class titled “Using VOSviewer & PoP to Identify Research Trends and Research Networks” on September 12, 2026, at the Computer Laboratory of SB IPB University. The activity was part of SB IPB University’s efforts to strengthen research competencies and the use of technology to support a more systematic research process.

The mentoring session featured Fery Siswadi, S.E., M.M., Librarian at IPB Library, who provided both an overview and hands-on practice on the use of VOSviewer and Publish or Perish (PoP). These tools can be used to explore publication data, identify research trends, map relationships among topics, and examine research networks in a more structured manner.

Through a practical and interactive session, participants had the opportunity to understand the process of exploring publication data as part of research development. The use of these tools can also support the process of identifying research topics, developing literature reviews, and mapping developments within a particular field of research.

The activity reflects Sekolah Bisnis IPB University’s commitment to fostering an academic environment that supports the development of research capabilities within its academic community. Strengthening information literacy and the use of research technologies is expected to encourage an increasingly adaptive, data-driven, and relevant academic process in line with developments in knowledge and research.
