About VitalSource
VitalSource Bookshelf is an e-book reader platform for accessing the institution’s subscribed e-book collections. Unlike journal databases such as Scopus or ScienceDirect, VitalSource provides complete textbooks that you can read from cover to cover, both online and offline.
Access does not depend on the campus network. What matters is a personal account linked to IPB University, so your books remain available anywhere as long as your account is active.
Best Suited For
- Reading course textbooks subscribed to by the institution, without buying your own copy.
- Highlighting key passages and taking notes that are saved to your personal account.
- Searching for terms or topics within a book without flipping through every page.
- Reading on your phone or tablet without an internet connection.
Important Notes
The titles shown in your account depend on the institution’s active subscriptions, so available titles may change from one period to the next. If you cannot find the book you need, contact a librarian to check its availability.
How to Access
You only need to complete these five steps once, when you first register. After your account is active and verified, simply sign in using step 1.
Open the Bookshelf website
Go to VitalSource Bookshelf in your browser and sign in with your campus email. If you already have an account, this is the only step you need.
Go to bookshelf.vitalsource.com
Enter your Email and PasswordUse your email ending in @apps.ipb.ac.id
Click Sign InDon’t have an account yet? Continue to step 2
Create a VitalSource account
If you don’t have an account yet, select Create a VitalSource Account on the sign-in page, then complete the form in the following order.
Click Create a VitalSource Account
Select I’m a Student
Enter your full name, campus email, and password
Check the box to accept the Terms of Use
Click Create Account
8 characters and include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and one special character
Confirm your institution
VitalSource will ask for your institution details. This determines which subscribed collections appear in your account, so make sure you select the correct one.
Select the Higher Ed category
Search for Institut Pertanian BogorType it in the Institution Name field
Click Submit
Verify your email
VitalSource will send a verification link to your campus email. Your account cannot be used until you click that link.
Open your campus email inbox
Click the Verify Email buttonCan’t find it? Check your spam folder or click Resend
Sign in again once verification is complete
Access e-books
Subscribed collections appear automatically once your institution is confirmed. You can start reading right away in your browser.
Open My Library or Explore
Choose an available collection and click View Collection
Click a book, then select Read Now
